The Eleventh Oak is brand new, custom designed and retro fitted, to allow guests to step back to an era less complicated and less demanding. There is no Wi-Fi, & no screens (there is of course mobile phone reception). Instead, it holds an opportunity for you to re-connect with your travel partner and with nature and indulge in absolute relaxation.
The space
The Eleventh Oak cabin sits on a 3000m2 section of our 50-acre property. When we purchased the property in 2020, the cabin site was a cattle paddock. Being at the top of a hill, the site unfolds beautiful views, sunrise or sunset, winter or summer. From an auditory perspective you will hear bellbirds, kookaburras and king parrots. Visually you may witness our resident echidna, wombats, kangaroos and eagles. We supply multiple creature comforts such as homemade & local breakfast provisions, that you may cook at your leisure, local wine on arrival, a Bluetooth stereo & record turntable, plenty of boardgames, books to read in the hammock in summer, or cuddled up by the indoor fire or outdoor fire pit in winter. The cabin is an open space kitchen, living & bedroom with a private bathroom and two-person bath overlooking views to the North. The Queen bed is made up with high-quality cotton, alpaca wool, and bamboo bed linen, with different pillows to choose from. The kitchen is almost fully equipped with two cooktops (no oven), and a BBQ on the deck. The bathroom has plush bath sheets, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and bath salts. Please bear with us as we continue landscaping this new project, most of which is tending to the 350 new natives we planted and sowing some new lawn seed. Guest privacy will not be impacted, however.
Local activities
The Yarra Valley region in Victoria is home to over 80 wineries, most of which offer cellar door tastings, and many include restaurants. A list of recommended wineries and local restaurants will be provided in the cabin welcome manual. The cabin is near to renowned hiking, cycling and mountain bike trails, such as the O'Shannassy Aqueduct Trail. For the extreme thrill seeker there are wonderful adventure tours we can direct you to. Hot air ballooning is also extremely popular in the region.
Guest access
The Eleventh Oak site is 3000m2 and is fenced off for guest privacy.
Guests may walk up and down the 500m long driveway - or around the entire block of our property on the cabin side - i.e. up Longs Road to the Melbourne Water underground pipeline which will circle back to the cabin. This is a 1.85km walk.
Guests need to be aware that ours and most of our neighbours’ fences are electrified as the properties all have livestock. Climbing through fences is not permitted.
The nearest neighbour is 180m away from the cabin and our house is 230m from the cabin. We ask guests to please stay out of the neighbour's property – 180m south of the cabin. This neighbour has shared access to our driveway so please drive slowly.
The cabin runs on rainwater and septic. Guests MUST treat the septic system with respect. No foreign objects including sanitary items may be flushed. No harsh chemicals or chlorine-based products may be used. No oil, dairy, tea or coffee may be poured down the sink. Failure to adhere to these guidelines will result in the septic being blocked, the bathroom being flooded and guests being charged with the plumbing fee to have the issue rectified. Water from the mains taps outside is not chlorinated and not for human consumption – it is only for the animals and gardening.
The property is non-smoking/vaping/cannabis as Yellingbo is in a High Fire Risk zone.
The cabin cannot operate on days of total fire ban. If you are booked on a total fire ban day you will be reimbursed or offered a change of date.
Pets are not permitted due to the amount of local wildlife that must be protected.
The property is not suitable or set up for children, however infants up to the age of one year old may stay with you providing you supply your own porta cot etc.
Please remove your shoes before entering the cabin.
The Eleventh Oak is a small part of a farm called Eleven Oaks. Whilst you will have complete privacy, you will hear the cows now and again and us scooting around doing daily tasks on the rest of the property. You will not have any contact with us unless you wish to. The aim is for you to enjoy your privacy.
Further information will be available for you upon check in, in the guidebook provided.
