13th Queer Screen Film Fest, will run from 2 – 8 September at Event Cinemas George St, followed by an on-demand season from 9 – 16 September.
Program highlights include:
- Opening Night Showcase: JIM QUEEN, a neon-soaked, high-camp animated satire fresh from Cannes and Sydney Film Festival that weaponises queer iconography in a hilarious, disco-fueled post-apocalyptic journey.
- Closing Night Finale: SWEET MILK LAKE, a tender and high-stakes Australian debut feature written by, directed by, and starring Harvey Zielinski (Deadloch) in a brilliant dual performance exploring brotherhood, trust, and belonging.
- Local Gems & Spotlight: A rich selection of homegrown Australian cinema, featuring local talent, compelling documentary shorts, and the return of the Queer Screen Pitch Off Competition, supporting emerging Australian LGBTIQ+ storytellers with $10,000 in short film funding.
